"I wish my teacher knew..."

One of the many things I think we do well at my school is the relationships our teachers build with our students. I thought this was a neat activity that could be easily incorporated into any class.

Hand out an index card (or use a Google Form for you "techie" teachers) and ask the students to write something about them that they think is important for you, as their teacher, to know. Use the phrase "I wish my teacher knew..." as a starter and give students a few minutes to write down their thoughts. Then collect and read through them when you have time. That's it.

It sounds simple but it can go a long way in building rapport with your students and might be a way to connect with them early on in a new school year, or a good activity to do on a day with a crazy schedule.
